Vicki inherited a great love of plants from both her botanist parents and has always had a keen interest in the visual arts. After a 30 year career playing Associate Principal Oboe with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra Vicki now devotes her time to Botanic art.
In 2016 at The Art of Botanical Illustration exhibition she was awarded an Honourable Mention by Celia Rosser for three of her paintings. In 2018 she was awarded another Honourable Mention, this time for her red poppy. This painting was also used to advertise the exhibition. This year at TABI 2020 her agapanthus seed head painting was chosen as the ‘hero’ image for the exhibition and her red flowering gum painting was chosen for the 2021 calendar.
In 2018 her painting of Akane apples was on the front cover of the calendar published by the Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne, where she first joined classes with Dianne Emery in 2010.
Vicki held her first solo exhibition in December last year at the Meeniyan Art Gallery. She now lives in South Gippsland where she has an extensive garden which provides her with a wonderful source of inspiration for her paintings.
