I originally trained as a teacher in Birmingham, UK. In 1970 I was appointed as a Creative Arts Teacher to a Tasmanian High School later to move on to work at Don College, Devonport, where my role was to essentially support students with special learning needs and train students in Vocational Community Service courses. Creative Arts were always an integral part of my teaching methodology, as I found them to be powerful tools for connecting with young (and older) people. Since retiring I have joined a local Botanical Art Group in N.W. Tasmania which has inspired me to explore different techniques in portraying plants and trees. I have entered a few local art exhibitions (Central Coast NW Tasmania Artex) and have sold work and been awarded with highly commended certificates. I was delighted that three of my paintings were accepted for the Friends of the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria and this has encouraged me to further build my portfolio.
