Cornelia Büchen-Osmond discovered her passion for painting after retiring from her career in science and when she enrolled in a course of Botanical Illustration at the Canberra TAFE in 2010. She followed this with other courses and master classes from renowned botanical artists at other institutions and in so doing has advanced her skills in this art form.
In 2011 Cornelia joined the Botanical Art Groups run by the Friends of the Australian National Botanic Gardens. She shares a remarkable fellowship and enjoys group learning experiences with these other botanical artists. This is continued with her involvement in ‘Nutters’, the Gumnut Ladies Painting Group at Strathnairn Arts, an association supported by the ACT Government and situated on the north-western rural outskirts of Canberra.
Since 2012, Cornelia has participated in many exhibitions including the Friends exhibitions at the Australian National Botanic Gardens, Canberra Botanical, Beechworth Botanica and Botanical Art Society of Australia. Her work is in collections in Australia, Japan, Europe, the UK and USA and is featured in scientific publications.
